AVD Slide Show is a nice utility you can use to easily view a sequence of images as a slide show, each image being shown for some predetermined time before going on to the next. You just point it to a file in folder, say how long to display each picture, select transition effects and then sit back and enjoy. If a picture is too large or less for your screen, it is resized to fit keeping the aspect ratio.
AVI Slide Show is an easy-to-use tool to convert digital photos to video and create stunning slide shows with transition effects

Key features:
  • Load up multiple formats of images including tif, tiff, fax, gif, jpg, jpeg, jpe, pcx, bmp, dib, rle, ico, cur, png, wmf, emf, tga, targa, pxm, ppm, pgm, pbm.
  • View the slideshow with 160+ transitional effects (with preview).
  • Preview the images.
  • Save specific file format parameters and save preview dialogs.
  • Convert digital photo to AVI file.
  • Resample the images on-the-fly prior to loading them up on screen.
  • You will get perfectly centered images each time.
  • The number of images is shown in the bottom left corner of the window (when the first image out of 50 is displayed, it reads 1/50).
  • Slide show Auto-start.
  • Slide show direction buttons.
  • Sequence options (forward, reverse, and random).
  • Slide delay adjustment.
  • Transition delay adjustment.
  • **** screen mode is available.
  • Hide cursor on **** screen mode.
  • Background color or image selection.
  • Creating standalone slide shows on a self-launching CD.
Options:
  • Sequence
In view mode, one or more images are available for viewing using the Next image, Previous image, etc. commands. These images make up the active image sequence. The number of images in the sequence and the number of the currently viewed image within the sequence are shown in the status bar.
In Slide Show mode, the images are shown from the list in the selected order (forward, reverse, and random).
  • Image changing
There are settings for how long each image will be shown; click the option button of your choice. The top option plays the next image automatically after a number of seconds; type a number into the box to change the timing. The second option will cause the viewer to wait until you touch a key on the keyboard or click the mouse before displaying the next image.
  • Auto image size
The Auto-shrink to fit and Auto-enlarge to fit commands specify that AVD Slide Show should automatically shrink or enlarge each image to fit the window or screen when it is displayed.
  • Transition effect
Transitional Effects makes viewing the images more pleasureable. There are 3 options:
The first option plays the slide show with one transition effect; type a number into the box to change the timing. The second option plays the next image in slide show with random transition effect. The third option plays the slide show without transition effect.
  • Background
You can specify background color, background image and background image style of slide show window.
  • File name
Click "Show" to display the name of the image as it appears on screen.
  • AVI export
Creating standalone slide shows on a self-launching CD:
If you have a CD burner, you might want to make a self-launching CD. Here’s what you do:
  1. First you have to create the autorun.inf file that tells the CD what to do once the disk is read. Open Notepad and type:
    [autorun]
    open=slide.exe
  2. Insert a blank CD in your CD burner. and launch your burner software.
  3. Put into the root directory of the new CD the following files:
    - autorun.inf,
    - slide.exe (AVD Slide Show executable file from C:\Program Files\AVD Slide Show),
    - slide.chm (AVD Slide Show help file from C:\Program Files\AVD Slide Show),
    - your graphic files.
  4. Launch your burner software. When completed, this CD will automatically run when placed in the CD tray of almost all computers.
Put your PowerPoint presentations on a self-launching CD:
Making a self-launching CD of a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation without AVD Slide Show is not an easy task. If you just include the PowerPoint “show” file (.pps) and the computer running the CD doesn’t already have PowerPoint, then there won’t be any show at all. If you include PowerPoint’s “viewer” you not only must write a rather large file to the hard drive of the computer launching the CD, but you also must include detailed instructions so novices can open the show. And if you want novices to be able to re-launch the show without loading it on their hard drives again, then you practically have to produce a manual.
AVD Slide Show is a cost-effective solution. The following are step-by-step instructions for turning your PowerPoint into a stand-alone AVD Slide Show and then into a self-launching CD. At the bottom you will find a few tips to polish up your presentation and help you handle some issues you might face in creating the standalone Slide Show.
  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation in PowerPoint. Choose File – Save As.
  2. In the “Save as type” dialog box choose “JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)” and click Save.
  3. PowerPoint will ask, “Do you want to export every slide in the presentation?” Click "Yes". Each slide of your presentation is now saved as a separate JPEG file in a new folder.
  4. Launch your burner software and create your self-launching CD (see above).
